Wedding of the Year

From Unang Hirit to Saksi, I had always been hearing about the Mar Roxas and Korina Sanchez Wedding at Santo Domingo Church, Quezon City. They even named it as the wedding of the year. Well, aside from the fact that they were amongst the popular and powerful personalities here in the Philippines (Mar Roxas being one of the Philippine Senators and Korina Sanchez as one of the best news anchors), their wedding had been shown to more than 2,000 guests.

I had overheard from one of the news that they donated a part of their would-be reception expenses to the victims of the two typhoons that recently hit the country. *smirk* My mother beg to disagree on that. She told me that wedding is something that a girl always dreamed of. And doing such is not amusing for her. Well, the two were that rich to donate a part of their wedding expenses and still managed to have an extravagant wedding celebration.

Anyhow, I am startled by the thought that IT was the wedding of the year. I had remembered the Ryan Agoncillio and Judy Ann Santos wedding. While the former is something broadcasted, the latter had been kept as secret as possible. Public were surprised to know that they already exchanged vows.

For me, the Agoncillio-Santos is the wedding of the year. I love their thinking about the wedding. Something sacred. Something meant for family and close relatives. And something not for public consumption.

Nonetheless, I wanted to congratulate Senator and Mrs. Mar Roxas. When everybody thought that your relationship is just one of the many gimmicks started by many politicians, you proved them (including me) wrong. May your love for each other continue to flourish and bring both of you lovely babies in the future.
